Whilst it may not always be necessary to book we do always recommend you make an appointment to avoid disappointment. This helps us to a lot the time to give you the service that you deserve.
Help us to help you
Feel free to bring pictures of styles that you think you might like as this can always help but we do encourage you to have an open mind too. What you think you love might not suit you in reality. Sometimes what doesn't jump out at you immediately may look absolutely amazing when you actually try it on.
Friends and family
We always encourage our brides to bring 2 or 3 friends or family members with them to offer moral support and honest opinions, though we don't recommend any more than this on your first visit as this can cause confusion and result in costly mistakes if you are swayed to something that you wouldn't as a rule choose for yourself. You are more than welcome to bring others to your fittings if you would like them to see your final choice.
Wherever it is possible, we would gently suggest that children are left with a babysitter. It is from past experience that we recognise that tired, hungry and bored children can cause somewhat of a distraction. It is a day that you want to enjoy and remember with fondness in years to come. If this is not possible, may we suggest that one member of your party takes on board the responsibility to occupy them.
I am a great believer in setting a budget and sticking to it. Having a limit is not about what you can afford but more about what you are prepared to spend. If you are however limited, its not advisable to try things on way out of your agreed limit as if you fall in love with such a dress nothing else will live up to it later.
Please remember that it can take up to 5 months for your gown to arrive so leave yourself plenty of time and remember to leave time for any necessary alterations. If your wedding date is within 6 months some of our designers offer a priority service at an additional supplement and this cost can vary depending on the supplier. We also have plenty of gowns that can be bought 'off the peg' and these are of course at a reduced price. Also it is worth considering that shopping before you are ready to commit to a purchase can cause disappointment if a dress you choose is discontinued before you get chance to pay a deposit.
If you are planning on losing a substantial amount of weight make a good start before you go shopping for gowns. What might suit you being a more voluptuous bride may do nothing for your lovely new figure when you've lost say 2 stone. Remember that you need to allow up to 6 months when ordering your dress, so be realistic. Most gowns can be taken down in size but not all of them lend themselves to letting out.
